AGM and Professional Development:
Professional Standards: A Study of Teachers of the Deaf


On Tuesday 27th February (Term 1, Week 5) Trudy Smith shared her current PhD research with a presentation titled "Professional Standards: A Study of Teachers of the Deaf". We look forward to learning more about her findings when her PhD is completed.
This was followed by the AATDSA AGM.

Hear Our Heart - Ear Bus Project

On Wednesday 25th October (Term 4, Week 2) Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing / Hear our Heart Ear Bus Project (HoHEBP) co-directors visited SA to share their journey, hard earned success & partnerships. They shared the data, why and how they blend their volunteer roles while working for NSW Department of Education.

Theory of Mind, Writing, Literacy and Achievement of Deaf Learners

Presented by Dr. Connie Mayer
Dr. Connie Mayer was brought to Australia by the National Association of Australian Teachers of the Deaf to tour each of their member states. Dr. Mayer presented two 3 hour sessions on the topics of Theory of Mind, Writing, Literacy and Achievement of Deaf Learners in Week 4 of Term. Both sessions were recorded and are still available for registration.

Evening PD and AGM

In 2023 we hosted a Q&A session with a DfE Occupational Therapist and DfE Speech Pathologist on the topic of emotional regulation for D/HH students followed by AATD(SA)'s Annual General Meeting.

The LMH Test & AATD(SA) AGM

Daniel Ling developed the Ling 6 sound test in the 1970s to assist clinicians and parents in monitoring performance with their children's hearing aids.
This workshop discussed:
·     The Ling-Madell-Hewitt or Low-Mid-High test
